What is a good Rottweiler ?
(Illustrated with "living" examples and according to the ADRK- ZTP / KORUNG requirements.)
Sizes
-A good Rottweiler must have a good health and sound hips & elbows.
"Varrak v. Schloss Hexental, (Igor v Muthmannsdorf x Queeny v Schloss Hexental) HD-Frei. ED+/, SCHH3, BH, ZTP" is coming out of a super-hip-line : in 5 generations all HD-Frei, except for one HD+/- !
*
-The ideal hight for a male is 66 cm (25,59 inch), for a female 61 cm ( 24,01 inch) and we prefer a length who is not more as 10 cm (3,92 inch) longer as the hight (a male from 66 cm hight may not pass the 76 cm)
At this moment is "Mambo v.d. Teufelsbrucke, HD+/-, OBJS, SCHH 3, AD, BH, Korung" one of the nicest "in proportion-dogs" (66,5 cm - 26 inch hight, 55 kg-120 lbs) in Germany.
*
-The chest must be broad and powerful build. For a tall dog it must be around 90 cm circumference.
"Ambassador v. Freienfels, HD-Frei, SCHH 3, AD, Korung" had a hight of 67 cm and a chest of 101 cm (39,61 inch) !
-The ideal weight of a tall male is about 50 kg (110 lbs). This is a nice weight and the dog is still able to work.

"Alex v. Herrenholz, HD-Frei,SCHH3, AD, Korung" was a impressive working dog and a famous producer, he had a hight of 67 cm an a weight of 50 kg.
*
-The head must be powerful with broad skull but because we are dealing with a "working breed" the muzzle cannot be TO short. The skull of a male is preferred to 15 cm and the muzzle lenght not shorter as 9 cm (but as broad as possible). The eyecolor must be darkbrown.

"Hasko v. Hohegeiss, HD+/-, BS93, SCHH3, AD, Korung" (full brother to Hero) is demonstrating the ideal skull/muzzle-proportions (scull 15 cm, muzzle length 10 cm). He was a show champion and a potential working champion.
Type, condition, build and movement
-A correct Rottweiler must be build powerful (but not "heavy") with powerful bonestrenght.
"Arco v. Muhlholzberg, HD-Frei,OKJS, OKS, OBS, SCHH3, AD, Korung". One of the most successful Austrian dogs. He is showing a ideal proportion body/weight. (hight 67 cm, 52 kg)
*
-A Rottweiler must be attentive and self assured.

A attentive " Tania v. Schloss Hexental, (Lesko v Heltorfer Forst x Ragna v Schloss Hexental) HD-Frei, ED-Frei, Fr. Policedog." mother of some top USA-dogs.
*
-The ideal head is well shaped with medium-sized well carried ears, dark pigmentation of the mouth and a scissorbite. A well shaped headpiece demonstrated by:

"Vadar v. Schloss Hexental, (Igor v Muthmannsdorf x Saaike v Schloss Hexental) HD-Frei, ED+, ZTP, BH, AD" at the age of only 11 months !
*
-They must have a powerful neck and straight topline with a "natural" croupe.

"Morris v. Rauchfang, HD-Frei, BS85, SCHH3, FH, AD, Korung". (sire of many famous Rottweiler) is showing the ideal topline.
*
-A good Rottweiler must have enough forechest with nice angulations in the front and the rear.

"Viber v. Schloss Hexental, (Igor v Muthmannsdorf x Saaike v Schloss Hexental) HD+/-, ED+, ZTP, BH, RST, BFT, EG, CP" demonstrate the ideal angulations.
*
-The coat must have also a undercoat to protect the dog for all weather-conditions and a well defined red color.
The preferred coat showed by " Igor v. Muthmannsdorf, HD-Frei, VLPV-CK99, IPO3, ZTP, Koerung" at only 18 months of age.
*
-The movement must be free and outreaching with a high endurance, all over Europe the dogs in the "gebrauchshund-klass" have to run for almost 15 minutes or longer.
"Uxia v. Schloss Hexental, (Ianki vd Traisenwiese x Ragna v Schloss Hexental) HD+/-, IPO2, ZTP, RST, BH" is a perfect example of a bitch with a enormous endurance.
Drives and Character
-A good Rottweiler needs high working-drives and a high endurance to maintain a "working-dog-breed" !

"Janko v. Herrenholz, HD-Frei, SCHH3. BH, AD, Koerung" one of the best working dogs on the ADRK spring-Korung '97.
*
-The ability to calm down after the excitement must be "middle- till high".

"Lesko v. Heltorfer Forst, HD-Frei, D.CH, BJS93, SCHH3, BH, AD" one of Germany 's best working dogs who was also a real friendly dog.
*
-Tractability is "middle- till high" and is depending most of the times of the dominance of the subject and the quality of the trainer.
"Ulric v. t' Ganzerikhof, HD-Frei, ZTP, EG" a perfect example of: the higher the dominance, the lower the tractability.
*
-Taxability is very important to a working Rottweiler and must definedly be as high as possible !
"Uschi v. Schloss Hexental, (Igor v Muthmannsdorf x Queeny v Schloss Hexental) HD-Frei, ZTP, Koerung, BH, RST, Pol.DH, CP, EG" is one of the fastest and hardest females we'll know !
*
-The grip must be hard, calm & full.

"Uras v. Schloss Hexental, (Igor v Muthmannsdorf x Saaike v Schloss Hexental) HD-Frei, ZTP, CP, EG, KT" a dog with a grip who does the trial-arm deform ! He had a skull of 17 cm ( man next to him is Mr. Barringer) !
*
-The gunsureness must be "very high". Imagine a police-or service dog who is afraid of a gun...

"Kanto v. Nienburger Land, HD-Frei, SCHH3, BH, ZTP" (son of Gary v. Hohenhameln) hight 68 cm, chest cir. 102 cm, 58 kg.
